In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, Walgreens, in collaboration with Greater than AIDS, 2BeatHIV, Digital LinCS, the Durham County Department of Public Health, Radio One Raleigh, and Urban Ministries of Durham, will host a block party at the Walgreens store #16137 on the corner of Holloway St. and Miami Blvd. This event will provide an opportunity for community-based organizations and local businesses to promote health and wellness among the most vulnerable residents of durham. Residents will be able to learn more about health, employment, housing, and educational resources available to them and get an opportunity to receive voluntary, free, and confidential health screenings. The event will focus on addressing the overlap between housing insecurity and vulnerability to health disparities by collaborating with organizations that provide housing and substance abuse services to Durham residents. The event will feature durham-based artists, including but not limited to dasan ahanu, tamisha waden, and freedom clay. Free food, games, and a bouncy house will be available in the Walgreens parking lot.
