About this event
Calling Durham Public Schools and the greater Durham community! On Wednesday June 22, come join the DPS Hub Farm, Grammy-nominated Afrofuturist musician and author Pierce Freelon, Rofhiwa Book Cafe, the opener band XOXOK, and Paperhand Puppets for a summer evening of live music supporting outdoor programming at the DPS Hub Farm and celebrating outdoor learning in our Durham Public Schools community. We are grateful to our local sponsor, the Adam Dickinson Realty Group, for sponsoring this concert! This event will also celebrate Father's Day with the release of Pierce Freelon’s new children’s book “Daddy-Daughter Day”, and copies of the book will be available for purchase during the show from Rofhiwa Book Cafe. Ticket availability is limited, so purchase your tickets today! Bring your picnic blankets and chairs, but please no outside food or drink - we will have food truck vendors on site including Homebucha Kombucha, Bon Fritay Food Truck (Haitian food), Lao Lao Food Truck (Laotian food), Birrieria Toro Rojo Food Truck (Mexican food), and Bruster's Ice Cream. All alcohol, drugs and tobacco products are prohibited on DPS property. Pets (other than service animals) are not allowed. This concert will take place entirely outdoors and parking is available in the Hub Farm Visitor Parking Lot (Eno Valley Elementary's bus lot). Notice of postponement for weather will be announced on social media the day of the event. Rain date will be the next day at the same time, Thursday June 23 from 6-8:30pm.
